Atmosphere of Prayer

DESCRIPTION: We are to pray without ceasing, but how do you do that? In this lesson, Brother Sherman Cox talks about living in the atmosphere of heaven.

“Pray without ceasing.” (1 Thessalonians 5:17) With that command we are told to do what seems a little impossible.

We are to pray all the time. We are to pray without ending the prayer. We are to live in a constant state of prayer.

But how do you really do that? is it even possible?

Prayer is not about Being Seen

DESCRIPTION: Prayer that makes a difference is not done for public performance but individual transformation. In this lesson, Brother Sherman Cox talks about why personal private prayer is so important.

In Matthew 6:6, Jesus gives us an important principle about true, healthy, and helpful spirituality. Namely, this is something that is nurtured with alone with God.

That is not to say that all spiritual practices should be done by yourself. Hebrews 10:25 tells us to not forsake gathering together. It is impossible to commune together by yourself. Yes, community is important and indispensable. However, there is something about one on one time that helps us and the larger community.

But prayer here is something that you do not attempt to get brownie points from others. We are not struggling to find ways to demonstrate our spiritual practices to others here.

There is a time to pray….in secret.

Roughly such a method would be to read a scripture devotionally and then pray according to, or with that scripture.

In this scripture we see our identity and our calling. We see our mission and our duty. We see who we are and what we are to do. All in a short sentence which states, “We are ambassadors of Christ.

Very good question. And one that I am studying now.

Very good question. And one that I am studying now.

I have a M.Div with an emphasis in Homiletics, so I have a lot of training in Bible Preaching. But preaching is not the same thing as teaching.
